Edward Simons, Conductor and Music Director A founder and conductor of the Rockland Symphony Orchestra; co-founder with his wife, Janet, of the Community Music School (Rockland Conservatory of Music), Mr. Simons’ distinguished career has led him from conducting on Broadway and national tours to teaching and performing around the US. Barbara Allen, Harp Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, principal harpist of American Ballet Theatre and Greenwich Symphony; winner of 7th International Harp Competition in Israel, soloist with Caramoor and Waterloo Festivals, Greenwich Symphony and Hudson Valley Philharmonic. Ms. Allen has performed with the New York Philharmonic and this year performed and recorded with the vocal artist, Sting. Stephen Reid, Cello Principal cellist of the Rockland Symphony and other Hudson Valley ensembles. Founding member of the Gotham Quartet and of the Gotham Trio with violinist Karen Gilbert and pianist Frank Daykin. Head of the Chamber Music Conference (at Bennington); President of the Rockland Symphony. Marti Sweet, Violin Founder, Artistic Director of Musica Amici, Ms. Sweet received a Bachelors and Master of Music from The Juilliard School as a student of Oscar Shumsky. Member of St. Paul’s Chamber Orchestra, National Arts Center Orchestra and associate violinist with Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She has recorded chamber music CDs for Angel/EMI and New World Records and currently teaches in Rockland. Annamae Goldstein, Violin Ms. Goldstein is a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Musica Amici Alison Crowther, Violin Rockland Symphony, North Jersey Symphony, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra Jay Shulman, Cello Longtime member of Long Island Philharmonic, Mr. Shulman performs with the Rochambeau Trio, the River Duo and has been a dear friend of Alison’s for 50 years since playing together as students in Scarsdale, NY. He is currently publishing works of his father, composer and cellist, Alan Shulman. Jan Deats, Piano Graduate of Oberlin, student of György Sándor, who was a student of Bela Bartok; international teacher, soloist and accompanist. Ms. Deats is presently Chair of the Piano Department of Rockland Conservatory of Music, faculty member of the Elisabeth Morrow School and Manhattan School of Music, pre-college div; McCall- Deats Duo. She Performed at the Tchaikovsky International Competitions with Alvin McCall in 1982. Jennifer Cece Bellon, Soprano Graduate U. of Richmond, VA, received a Masters Degree in Opera from New Jersey City University. Ms. Bellon performed as a lead at the Paper Mill Playhouse and Dramatists Guild on Broadway,The Mozart Requiem at Lincoln Center, Vivaldi and Bach cantatas and arias with the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey.In 2000, she won first place in the State of New Jersey NATS Opera Competition. Robert Barrows, Cembalo, Organ Mr. Barrows is choirmaster and music director of Grace Episcopal Church and Sarum. Patrick Milando, French Horn Former Principal Horn of L’Orchestra del Teatro di San Carlo, Italy, Mr. Milando has performed on live broadcasts and CDs with the New York Philharmonic. He has toured internationally with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and performed with “Live Broadcasts from the Met”. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Orchestra of Paris, the St. Petersburg Maryinsky Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony and the American Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Milando has performed as a soloist both internationally and at Lincoln Center. In Japan, he performed a live television broadcast of the Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1. On Broadway, Mr. Milando holds the First Horn chair for Disney’s “The Lion King”. In addition, he has played on numerous motion picture soundtracks, commercial television and radio recordings. |
